A G5-level magnetic storm will impact Earth in the coming days.

According to scientists, its effects may last for the next two days. Recently, there was an X1.8 solar flare, accompanied by a fast plasma ejection that reached Earth on October 10, likely around midday.

“Although the reputation of geomagnetic forecasting has somewhat diminished after the recent record X9.1 flare, when a side ejection barely grazed Earth, this time, unfortunately, we won't be able to avoid it. The plasma cloud is exceptionally large, and its width exceeds all possible measurement inaccuracies,” write astronomers.

The expected magnetic storms may vary in intensity from weak to very strong, as the plasma cloud has an uneven structure in terms of both density and speed.

In the most unfavorable scenarios, fifth-level magnetic storms, comparable to those that occurred in May of this year, are possible. The most likely scenario suggests G4 level storms, which could last up to three days.
