The Embassy of Kazakhstan issued a statement regarding the experiment announced by Russia.

Starting December 1, Kazakh citizens will be required to submit biometric data at Moscow airports and the Mashtakovo border checkpoint, as reported by NUR.KZ, citing the Kazakh Embassy in Russia.
Посольство Казахстана прокомментировало эксперимент, объявленный Россией.

Previously, an experiment was announced in Russia for collecting biometric data from foreign citizens, which will also include residents of Kazakhstan. According to information on the website of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia, the experiment is divided into two phases.

In the first phase of the experiment, from December 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026, citizens of Kazakhstan arriving at the international airports in Moscow (Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky), as well as through the road checkpoint Mashtakovo in the Orenburg region, will be required to provide biometric data – a facial image and fingerprints.

In the second phase, from June 30, 2025, to June 30, 2026, the experiment will cover all checkpoints at the state border of Russia.

"During this period, a digital profile will be created for every foreign entrant (including citizens of Kazakhstan). It will also be possible to create such a profile independently using the RuID application, which will serve as an equivalent to government services for citizens of other countries and will offer the ability to report visits and receive various services while in Russia (for instance, obtaining health insurance).

The digital profile will be integrated into a number of state systems, including government services. We recommend being prepared in advance for additional procedures at border crossing points," the message states.

The experiment does not apply to:

It should be noted that the experiment in Russia has been described as a common global practice, as additional information about entrants helps countries enhance their security levels.

In August of this year, it was reported that Turkey intends to take fingerprints from all entrants to the country. Additionally, there are plans to chip identity documents for those who have received temporary protection status.

It was also reported that Kazakhstanis will undergo biometrics before flying. Vice Minister of Transport Makhsat Kaliakparov mentioned in the corridors of Digital Transport Day about the implementation of biometrics in civil aviation in Kazakhstan in 2025.
