"Interpreted as a call to action": The head of the National Bank comments on Tokayev's criticism.

Timur Suleimenov noted that the president spoke about economist leaders.

"Certainly, the National Bank is among the economic agencies. Therefore, it's not just the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance; it also includes the National Bank, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market, 'Baiterek', 'Samruk' - in other words, all the economist leaders. And the president gave us an assessment of 'mediocre' - I naturally do not exclude myself from this. I believe that the entire economic bloc received such an evaluation," he said.

The head of the National Bank stated that he perceives criticism as a call to action.

"Certainly, we view this criticism from the perspective of the National Bank. And we don't just perceive it; we see it as a call to action.

"Today, at the end, I spoke about new measures that we have already taken, new measures that we will implement next week. This is indeed part of our actions to realize what the president stated," summarized Timur Suleimenov.

Recall that at the beginning of this year, in an interview with the newspaper "Ana tili," the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, noted that he assesses the current work of the economist leaders as mediocre.

By the way, today the actions of the National Bank were criticized by Majilis deputy Azat Peruashov. According to him, maintaining the base rate is not a solution.

Today, the National Bank of Kazakhstan made a decision regarding the base rate. It remained at the level of 15.25%.
