"It is important to understand that hazing in the army no longer exists. The very concept of 'hazing' implies a conflict between older and younger conscripts. Given that currently only representatives of one conscription serve in the armed forces and other military formations, we should not speak of hazing here.
I believe that at the age of 18, a person comes to the army as a psychologically formed individual. To expect the armed forces and other military formations to turn them into patriots of their country within a year is, in my opinion, an unrealistic demand. We must cultivate this patriotism as a society, starting from schools, universities, and in our neighborhoods.
This is not hazing; it is a violation of military discipline and a failure to comply with existing regulatory legal acts," - stated Ruslan Omarov, Deputy Head of the Department of Organizational and Mobilization Work of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
It should be noted that in September of this year, Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov reprimanded his subordinates for allowing non-statutory relations in the Kazakh army. Some of them received formal warnings.
"You must first and foremost care for your subordinates, creating all the conditions for their activities and professional growth," - said the head of the department.
Also in September, Deputy Defense Minister Shaykh-Khasan Jazykbaev stated that two incorrect assertions about the army have emerged in Kazakh society: the first, according to him, is that military personnel die during peacetime, and the second thesis is about the alleged existence of hazing among the ranks.
He also added that serving in the army during peacetime is no more dangerous than any other profession.
