In Almaty, the first registration of a moped has been successfully completed: a young city resident received a technical passport for their vehicle and a state registration number plate.
In 2024, amendments were made to the Law "On Road Traffic," with the primary aim of regulating the operation of mopeds. Now, moped drivers are considered full participants in road traffic and are subject to all legal requirements.
Starting from January 11, new regulations are in effect as part of a pilot project that allows for the registration of mopeds. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has prepared a list of documents required for registration, and the process will be carried out in a simplified manner, even if the moped frame lacks an identification number.
"Dear moped owners, to avoid legal violations, we remind you of the necessity to register your mopeds and obtain a category A1 driver's license," police officials addressed the citizens.
