In Almaty, discussions are taking place regarding higher education in the Asia-Pacific region.

A pre-summit focused on higher education issues in the Asia-Pacific region has commenced in Almaty. The event is being held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which represents the progress and achievements of higher education in Kazakhstan, as reported by the Tourism Bureau.

The pre-summit features participation from Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dosaev, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Malik Otarbaev, and Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Janseit Tuymebaev.

A total of 350 representatives from universities across 16 countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and others, have arrived for the event. This occasion focuses on the crucial role of universities in shaping the labor market of the rapidly developing Asia-Pacific region. The main theme of the meeting is the development of a dynamic landscape and collaborative solutions: innovative approaches in higher education across Central Asian countries.

At the conclusion of the pre-summit, an awards ceremony will recognize the winners of the QS World University Rankings 2025. Among 1,500 universities worldwide that made it to the ranking, Al-Farabi KazNU secured the 163rd position.

It is noteworthy that today, Almaty is home to 35 universities, hosting over 199,000 students, of which 124,000 are from other regions.
