President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the tragic news of the death of passengers and crew aboard the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in the Mangistau region with deep sorrow.
"Sharing the bitterness of this irreparable loss, I express my sincere condolences to you, the families and relatives of the deceased, as well as to the entire people of Azerbaijan. By my order, the government of Kazakhstan has established a state commission that is taking necessary measures as part of the rescue operation and will also provide further support to the Azerbaijani side," – the telegram states.
Today, near Aktau, a plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed.
According to preliminary information, there were 69 people on board the aircraft, including 5 crew members. Additionally, there were 42 citizens of Azerbaijan, 15 citizens of Russia, 6 citizens of Kazakhstan, and 3 citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
The authorities reported 29 survivors – the flight crew, according to preliminary data, did not survive the crash.
The police have initiated an investigation into the tragic incident – a case has been opened under the article "Violation of safety rules during the operation of a vehicle, resulting in the unintentional death of two or more individuals."
It has also been reported that a government commission has been established to investigate the causes of the plane crash.
In the Command Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, hotlines have been launched in connection with the crash of the Azerbaijani airline's plane near Aktau.
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has sent representatives of government agencies to Kazakhstan to investigate the plane crash near Aktau.
Aviation expert Serik Mukhtybaev stated that the cause of the aviation incident near Aktau could have been a human factor, as crews are warned about bird migrations.
