The event was also attended by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymukhamedov, and the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
"The summit discussed priority areas of activity and prospects for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the CIS" , - the statement said.
It is worth noting that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, was also supposed to participate in the informal meeting; however, he had to return to Baku due to a plane crash near Aktau.
Following this, the head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, expressed condolences to Ilham Aliyev regarding the aviation disaster.
