According to the official Telegram channel of Akorda, the meeting discussed the prospects for collaboration between Kazakhstan and Microsoft in the development of the IT industry and the establishment of a comprehensive ecosystem for startups.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed that the Microsoft office in Kazakhstan has been transformed into a multi-regional hub, covering activities across Central Asia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Mongolia, and Pakistan.
The head of state stated that Kazakhstan is actively working on legislation in the field of artificial intelligence, aiming to leverage its potential for innovation and economic growth. Next year, the establishment of a National Center for Artificial Intelligence is planned, which will serve as the foundation for the country's digital transformation infrastructure.
Michelle Simmons noted that Microsoft intends to continue its fruitful collaboration with the Kazakh side on digital development.
It is also worth mentioning that today the head of state held the 36th plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council. During the event, speeches were made by EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baibazarov, Chairman of the Kazakhstan Foreign Investors Council Erlan Dosymbekov, CNPC Vice President Zhang Daowei, Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank Nikolai Podguzov, President of Alstom for Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia Andrew Deleoni, and CEO of Lukoil Vadim Vorobyov.
Additionally, at the Senate meeting, the Minister of Digital Development, Jaslan Madiyev, stated that an office for Telegram is currently being opened in Astana. According to him, it will be located in Astana Hub. A specific individual has also been designated to oversee content moderation.
The Minister of Digital Development also mentioned the average salary of IT specialists in Kazakhstan, which, according to him, reaches nearly 600,000 tenge.
