The head of the Ministry of Digital Development announced that a Telegram office will open in Astana.

During today's Senate meeting, the head of the MCRIA, Jaslan Madiyev, announced that efforts are currently underway to establish a Telegram office in Astana, reports NUR.KZ correspondent.
Глава Минцифры сообщил, что в Астане будет открыт офис Telegram.

"We are establishing collaboration with messaging services, such as Telegram and Meta. Today, we are working on opening an office in Telegram, registering it based on the Astana International Financial Centre, and the Telegram office will soon be represented at Astana Hub.

A specific individual has already been appointed to oversee content moderation. If there are violations of our legislation, calls for violence, or messages related to drug trafficking, Telegram is currently responding quite promptly to our requests and assisting with the blocking and removal of those channels," said the head of the Ministry of Digital Development.

He also added that the ministry has established cooperation with Meta.

"According to Meta, all countries are currently facing issues related to fraud in messaging services. Thanks to their artificial intelligence technology, they have deleted 1.2 billion accounts on WhatsApp, and this was done without any complaints from users.

If you receive a suspicious message, they recommend clicking the 'report user' button, which allows them to access the chat history of the last 5 messages to analyze the content. If they determine that the complaint is valid, they will delete that account," reported Minister Zhaslan Madiyev.

It is worth noting that in late June of this year, Telegram founder Pavel Durov arrived in Astana. The founder of the Telegram messenger was captured on video riding an escalator at Astana Hub.

Around the same time, it became known that Toncoin was approved for trading on licensed AFSA platforms at the Astana International Financial Centre.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Development, commenting on Durov's visit, mentioned that the businessman enjoyed his time in our country. Later, Durov himself shared photos and impressions from his trip to Kazakhstan on social media. In August of this year, Zhaslan Madiyev revealed that Pavel Durov had visited Kazakhstan again.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Development also discussed whether Kazakhstan will have its own social network.
