A new mayor has been appointed for Semey, replacing Nurbola Nursagatov. The position has been filled by Talgat Muratov, the former head of the Beskaragay district in the Abai region, as reported by NUR.KZ citing the regional administration.

"Talgat Muratov has been appointed as the akim of the city of Semey," - states the official Telegram channel of the department.

Talgat Batyrovich Muratov was born on January 28, 1972, in Almaty region.

He holds three higher education degrees. In 2007, he graduated from the Kazakh Leading Architectural and Civil Engineering Academy with a degree in "expert-evaluator," in 2015 - from the Kazakhstan Innovative University with a degree in "jurisprudence," and in 2018 - from the Kazakh University of Transport and Communications with a degree in "engineering and technology."

His career began in 1993 as the executive director of the company "Stroydetal" in Semipalatinsk.

He later worked as an economist at LLP "Semey Selkhoztekhnika," deputy director of LLP "Comfort-Express," and as the director of the branch of LLP "Design Bureau of Mining and Metallurgical Equipment."

From 2012 to 2014, he served as the deputy general director of LLP "Shyghys Samgau."

From May to September 2014, he was the head of the retail center branch in the city of Semey at JSC "ATF Bank."

From 2014 to 2015, he was the chief specialist in the construction, architecture, and urban planning department of Beskaragay District.

From 2016 to 2018, he was the head of the architecture, urban planning, and construction department of Jarminsk District.

From 2018 to 2022, he was the deputy akim of Jarminsk District.

Prior to his current appointment, he held the position of akim of Beskaragay District.

It is worth noting that since October 2022, the akim of Semey was Nurbol Nursagatov. Before that, he served as the deputy head of the Abay region.

Today, it was also announced that Kuanysh Suleimenov has been appointed as the deputy akim of Abay region. Previously, he held the position of chairman of the regional maslikhat.

Earlier in Semey, teachers were involved in the events for decorating the New Year tree, resulting in one of them getting injured and being taken to the hospital.

Following the incident, three school directors in the city received a severe reprimand, and the head of the education department of Semey was relieved of his duties.
