The head of the National Security Committee reported to Tokayev.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Ermek Sagimbaev, the head of the National Security Committee, as reported by NUR.KZ citing Akorda.

According to Akorda, Ermek Sagimbaev reported on the upcoming plans and measures being taken by the agency to ensure national security in light of current challenges and threats.

Furthermore, he provided information on the ongoing initiatives aimed at the prospective development of national security agencies, as well as improvements in the structure and organization of operational activities.

"Ermek Sagimbaev informed about the work on personnel and technical strengthening of the special service, updating the regulatory legal framework, as well as optimizing and digitizing service processes within the National Security Committee.

"He presented data on the situation in areas such as countering international terrorism and religious extremism, organized crime, drug trafficking, ensuring cybersecurity, and protecting and guarding the state border," - reported Akorda.

It was noted that the president issued several directives concerning key areas of activity for national security agencies.

It is worth mentioning that previously, Tokayev met with the Chairman of the National Security Committee, Ermek Sagimbaev, in December of last year. At that time, Sagimbaev informed Tokayev about the prevention of four terrorist attacks in Kazakhstan.

In May of last year, Sagimbaev reported to President Tokayev about the prevention of two terrorist attacks since the beginning of the year, including one abroad in collaboration with foreign partners.

Additionally, it should be noted that Ermek Sagimbaev has been heading the National Security Committee since early January 2022.
