Sébastien Lecornu retains the position of Minister of Defense, while Jean-Noël Barrot will continue to lead the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The new Minister of Economy will be Éric Lombard, the head of the Deposit and Consignment Fund, and former Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne has been appointed Minister of Education.

Among the changes in the government, the new Minister of Justice is former Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin. Additionally, former Prime Minister and leftist politician Manuel Valls has joined the government as Minister for Overseas Territories. The Minister of Culture remains Rashida Dati, the first Arab woman in the French government.

In total, the Bayrou government includes 34 ministers. The appointment coincided with a day of mourning for the victims of the cyclone in Mayotte.

Previously, Prime Minister Michel Barnier and his cabinet were dismissed by a vote of no confidence from the opposition, having served only 90 days.
