In Aktobe villages, schools and dispensaries worth billions of tenge are being built, yet they remain unnecessary for the local population.

In the village of Aktobe, a school with a capacity of 1,200 students has been under construction for five years. Additionally, the authorities have decided to build an expensive tuberculosis dispensary that is unlikely to be in demand, as reported by Orda.kz, referencing Diapazon.kz.

For context: the village has a population of around 300 people, with only 88 of them being schoolchildren, while the new school has a capacity designed for 1200 individuals.

At the same time, the villages face numerous pressing issues that remain unresolved. Residents fetch water from the only well, and during rain, they cannot go outside due to washed-out roads.

Another 500 million tenge has been invested in the construction of a tuberculosis dispensary, which, as it turns out, will not find any use in the region. According to media reports, the akimat has taken no measures to utilize the building in any way.

“The anti-corruption agency noted that they had initiated a service investigation to hold accountable those who decided to build a large school in an unpromising residential area. However, this initiative received no support,” the editorial team reports.

Additionally, a physical fitness and wellness complex has already been constructed in the Irgiz district. However, according to employees of the anti-corruption department, the building is merely for show, lacking any sports equipment inside, and the repair work leaves much to be desired.

In July, we reported how the Almaty akimat has been unable to put a kindergarten into operation for three years; now, the building, constructed with budget funds, has become a shelter for the homeless.
