School cafeterias will ban sailor-style pasta and mayonnaise: what other changes are coming to student meals?

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee has developed a new standard for school nutrition, addressing the composition of dishes, portion sizes, and their suitability for children's ages. According to the proposal, several food items and beverages will be removed from the menu, as reported by Orda.kz.
В школьных столовых запретят макароны по-флотски и майонез. Узнайте, какие еще изменения коснутся питания учеников.

A new project has been launched on the "Open NPA" website, which places a ban on numerous products and dishes:

  • buttermilk, cottage cheese, kefir;
  • pâtés, jellies, forshmak, aspics;
  • cream desserts, ice cream;
  • sugary drinks, energy drinks, soda, coffee, fruit drinks, kvass;
  • spicy sauces, ketchup, mayonnaise, horseradish, mustard;
  • fast food, stuffed pancakes, military-style pasta, okroshka;
  • chewing gum, therapeutic-table mineral waters, and other products.

Additionally, chefs will be prohibited from using frozen meat for meal preparation, as well as from cooking with pork, lamb, bulls, boars, and lean animals. Mushrooms are also not permitted.

Besides the prohibited products, the standard requires strict adherence to calorie norms and the balance of nutrients in school lunches. For instance, specific portion sizes and acceptable dish compositions will be established for different age groups.

Moreover, the document outlines a list of sanitary norms and requirements for organizing meals in schools.

The interval between all meals must be at least 3.5–4 hours.

The new rules also take into account the needs of children with special diets, such as those with allergies or gastrointestinal diseases. Alternative meal options are provided for them.

The document is currently undergoing public discussion, which will last until December 17.
