Trump has called for the death penalty for murderers and rapists.

“Immediately after my inauguration, I will instruct the Department of Justice to aggressively pursue death sentences to protect American families from brutal rapists, murderers, and monsters,” wrote the politician.

He believes such strict measures will “once again” make the U.S. a “nation of law and order.”

Previously, the sitting president Joe Biden commuted the sentences of 37 inmates, replacing the death penalty with life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. According to Trump, this decision is illogical and inflicts moral harm on the families of the victims.

Biden has opposed the use of the death penalty at the federal level. However, 27 states in the U.S. currently allow this form of punishment.
