“I smile when I talk to a person, especially when we have a good conversation; there are no issues. However, when criticism comes not only from me but also from other deputies, and there's such a dismissive attitude—this is something I find unacceptable. One must know their place,” stated Zhanbyrshin.
He promised that deputies would work on a legislative level to improve conditions for air passengers. Zhanbyrshin takes pride in the introduction of compensation for delayed flights. According to him, he pushed for this measure alongside deputy Samat Musabayev.
“They (the airlines—editor's note) need to improve, not manipulate, and conduct PR campaigns on social media regarding the deputies who criticized them yesterday. They must enhance the quality and adhere to all their mechanisms and conditions for providing quality service to Kazakhstani citizens,” he added.
During the governmental hour in the Mazhilis, deputies created a stir, demanding answers from Peter Foster—the president of the Air Astana group of companies. He faced complaints regarding flight delays and the company’s monopoly status. Peter Foster responded to the deputies' remarks with a smile. This infuriated Zhanbyrshin, who then made a controversial statement, declaring that “we are not your aborigines in Africa, who understand nothing.” Many criticized the deputy on social media, accusing him of racism.
