The head of Kazpost on postal workers' salaries of 160,000 tenge: "These are not low wages."

Amid discussions regarding the low salaries of postal workers, Asel Janasova, the chairperson of the board of JSC "Kazpost," explained how payments are determined and why in certain regions the amounts may be lower than the average, as reported by Orda.kz.
Руководитель «Казпочты» о зарплатах почтальонов в 160 тысяч тенге: «Эти суммы нельзя считать низкими».
“However, in sparsely populated villages where the volume of correspondence is extremely low, employees work part-time — from 0.2 to 0.9. For instance, if a postman works only two hours a week, we cannot pay him a full salary. If you want to work full-time, then do so. If not, we offer flexible schedules that allow employees to choose. (...) But what you say about low salaries is actually not low salaries,” she explained in the corridors of the Mazhilis.

According to Zhanasova, “Kazpost” aims to provide its employees with flexibility in their schedules. Night shifts, rotating schedules, and part-time work, in her opinion, create comfortable conditions.

“Many employees, especially in rural areas, opt for part-time work to balance it with other responsibilities. This is particularly convenient for women, who make up 85% of our workforce,” she noted.

The company, as Zhanasova pointed out, also pays attention to regular salary indexing.

“In 2023, we raised salaries for rural production employees by 25%, and this year — by another 15%. We will continue to index salaries annually to ensure our employees receive competitive rates,” Zhanasova stated.

Moreover, Zhanasova herself has a salary exceeding one million tenge.

“1 million 200 thousand tenge,” Zhanasova mentioned her salary.

The Mazhilis has adopted a draft law in the first reading that will significantly change the operations of postal operators.
