According to the agreements, France will allocate a grant of 1.35 million euros to assist in the management of the Balkhash water resources. Experts will conduct studies of the lake basin and develop a conservation plan through 2040. This plan will include measures to protect water and prevent environmental issues.
It is worth noting that in September, it became known that Kazakhstan and China are working on an agreement for the equitable distribution of water from transboundary rivers to prevent the drying up of Balkhash. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, over 12 billion cubic meters of water have already been directed to the lake this year. In April, the water level in Balkhash rose by 15 centimeters, providing hope for an improvement in the situation.
