"It is clear that total digitalization significantly simplifies the interaction between the state and its citizens and businesses, while minimizing bureaucracy and corruption risks.
However, the downside of this process is the increase in fraud cases. We are increasingly encountering instances of misinformation and media manipulation aimed at swaying public opinion, discrediting the authorities, and inciting hatred," - said the president.
According to him, this poses serious risks to the safety of citizens and the stability of the country.
"Therefore, it is necessary to consider the legislative establishment of accountability for internet platforms regarding the dissemination of destructive content. However, strengthening cybersecurity should in no way slow down the process of digitalization," - concluded the head of state.
Additionally, today, January 28, Tokayev held an extended government meeting in Astana. He commented on the performance of the Kazakh cabinet in the past year. According to him, "the results are decent, last year ended with positive indicators, but we cannot become complacent. There are still enough problems that require solutions. Experts and citizens are aware of this."
The president noted that Kazakhs are concerned about the fluctuating exchange rate of the tenge against the dollar. "Ensuring currency stability and generally curbing inflation is extremely important work, if not the main work (...). The previous assertions that we are independent and self-sufficient no longer hold, given the unusual situation," - he stated.
Tokayev also instructed to accelerate the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan and to identify a site for the second nuclear power plant. Furthermore, the president mentioned that aviation fuel at airports in Kazakhstan is too expensive, hindering their transformation into internationally competitive hubs.
