Question of the day: Do people often curse in your profession?

Vladimir Plyushchev, former head coach of the Russian national hockey team:

- As for myself, I often cursed. I cursed at the referees. But you can't let the officials hear it. I never cursed at the players. As the only coach in Russia, I had teams of all ages, from youth to junior, youth, and adult national teams. Is it possible to avoid swearing with older players - why not? But with younger age groups, swearing is unacceptable. The guys should see in their coach a person who sets an example in life, work, and free time. I never heard swearing from Viktor Tikhonov, Anatoly Tarasov, or Vladimir Yurzinov - great mentors - during games.

Edgard Zapashny, general director of the Bolshoi Moscow Circus:

- In our lives, strong language occasionally slips out. There are people who speak in curses. This is unacceptable if you work in a public place. Although I heard our great volleyball coach Nikolai Karpol shout: “Well, you are something else!” And you can shout at a tiger in the arena: “Well, you are Hu-urt!” You shout at a tiger like that - he understands. Here’s a joke on the subject: “A boy tells his mom: ‘Mom, dad fell down the stairs.’ - And what did he say? - Are we cleaning up the curses? - Yes, we are. - He fell silently.”

Ekaterina Karenina, safe driving instructor, TV and radio host:

- Cursing in front of clients - are you serious? Extreme driving instructors are generally very composed people. They can calmly explain the same thing 20 times.

Viktor Zabolotsky, honored test pilot of the USSR:

- I was involved in instructional activities, and cadets would come to me. I would talk about turns, spirals, and so on. And the cadets would say: add some spice, instructors taught us with curses, but we don’t understand you. And in the village, they didn’t understand me either. In 1964, I went to seasonal work from the Tupolev plant. The kolkhoz chairman sent me to herd cows. I tried with a whip - nothing. They gave me a stick, and I approached the cow: well, go on! The cow just stood there. The shepherd's eyes widened: what, can’t you talk to them? Well, go on… The cow’s tail shot up, and she bolted like in a race.

Mikhail Grushevsky, showman, impersonator:

- On Saturday, it was Lev Leshchenko's birthday and the presentation of his musical film “About First Love.” While we were gathering in the foyer, Vladimir Vinokur was telling my wife Evgenia and me amusing life anecdotes, peppering them with colorful expressions. And after laughing at another story, I couldn’t help but comment: “Volodya, dear, no one else is allowed to use it like that!” If a person curses, as Lev Valeryanovich would say, in a friendly manner, as he himself knows how to do, then it is quite appropriate. You can't fight it; you need to feel it delicately. And apply it like a measured dose of medicine.

Leonid, student, reader of the KP.RU site:

- Our coach, when we lost to the Serbs, recalled every known word of the great and mighty. And many students at our university on Leningradskaya communicate with him.
