ETA, or Electronic Travel Authorization, will be introduced in Thailand starting in 2025. All tourists from visa-exempt countries, including citizens of Kazakhstan, will need to obtain it.
ETA will be implemented in a pilot mode from December 2024, with a full rollout scheduled for June 2025.
This initiative aims to streamline immigration procedures by optimizing the control of arriving travelers and expediting the entry process for visa-exempt tourists. The new system is expected to enable travelers to pass through border control more quickly using automated passport gates with a QR code.
As part of the integration process for the ETA authorization, the system will be fully operational on the official e-Visa website by summer 2025, significantly simplifying the application process for all who wish to visit Thailand.
The ETA will be valid for 60 days, with the option to extend for an additional 30 days once during the trip. The electronic authorization will be approved for a single entry and will require reapplication for each new visit.
More detailed information about the application process will be released closer to the launch of the system.
