An investment project in Zhetysu is being implemented by partners – the LLP "Kazakhstan Utility Systems" and the Chinese company Envision Energy. It is planned that the enterprise will produce 250 sets of generators and 100 energy storage systems annually.
According to the press service of the akim of Zhetysu region, an investment of 40 million dollars is planned for the enterprise, which will create 300 jobs. The factory is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2026. It is anticipated that 60% of its products will be directed to the domestic market, while the remaining volume will be exported to Central Asian countries.
– The implementation of the project will reduce import dependence, strengthen energy security, create jobs, expand export opportunities, and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy, – noted Dinmukhamet Idrisov, chairman of the supervisory board of LLP "Kazakhstan Utility Systems," at the groundbreaking ceremony. – It is planned that at the initial stage of production, the share of local content will be 30 percent, which will gradually increase to 90 percent.
It is known that a number of other manufacturing facilities will appear in the special economic zone "Khorgos – Eastern Gates" in the coming years.
– The Khorgos hub and Dostyk station are significant points for economic growth and investment attraction; these regions border China and have substantial transport and transit potential, – stated Beybit Isabayev, the akim of the region, during a meeting with journalists. – Recently, 27 projects worth 63.3 billion tenge have been completed in the territory of the SEZ "Khorgos – Eastern Gates" and the MTCPS "Khorgos," creating more than two thousand jobs.
Among these projects are major engineering facilities, such as the dry port KTZE-Khorgos Gateway. Its capacity allows for the processing of 1,400 wagons per day – 700 on the narrow gauge and 700 on the broad gauge railway. There is also the feed mill LLP "SSA Feed Mills," a solar panel manufacturing enterprise LLP "Miami Solar," and the "Craftsmen City" LLP "International Castle."
According to information provided by Beybit Isabayev, by the end of 2027, it is planned to implement 79 projects in the special economic zone and the MTCPS "Khorgos," with an investment of 1.1 trillion tenge, creating over 9,000 jobs.
A Kazakhstan-Germany project for the construction of a cargo-passenger airport in the SEZ "Khorgos – Eastern Gates" is already underway. The third and fourth phases of construction of the multifunctional cargo terminal Dostyk Trans Terminal, with a capacity of 350,000 containers per year, are being carried out at Dostyk station.
