According to the latest reports, five individuals have died from their injuries sustained in the fire. The area of the most intense blaze in the Pacific Palisades region, situated between Santa Monica and Malibu, exceeds 60 square kilometers.
The fire near Pasadena has spread over more than 900 hectares, destroying over 100 structures, and containment efforts are proving ineffective despite the efforts of 700 firefighters. Rescuers are unable to use helicopters for firefighting.
“Strong winds and low humidity have put all residents of Los Angeles County at risk,” stated Fire Department Chief Anthony Marroun.
In Malibu, located in the western part of Los Angeles County, there are numerous celebrity homes. Recently, one of the homes owned by singer Paris Hilton was completely destroyed. The residence of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is also in a danger zone.
Los Angeles County is home to a total of 9.66 million residents.
