Some banks in Kazakhstan have stopped accepting Gazprombank cards.

Following the new sanctions imposed by the United States in mid-November, several countries, including Kazakhstan, have stopped servicing UnionPay bank cards issued by Gazprombank, according to Orda.kz, citing TASS.
В Казахстане ряд банков прекратил сотрудничество с картами Газпромбанка.
“Some ATMs display a notification indicating that the bank does not authorize transactions with the card.
The service denial applies to both corporate cards of Gazprombank and individual cards with the UnionPay system,” the publication reports.

On November 22, Gazprombank removed the UnionPay card from its website's list of available cards for issuance and advised clients to stock up on cash.

On November 21, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced a new package of sanctions against Gazprombank and 50 other Russian credit institutions.

Previously, Gazprombank was already under U.S. sanctions, which prohibited certain operations.

Now, it has been completely excluded from the U.S. banking system, trade with Americans is banned, and its assets in the United States have been frozen.

The updated list includes a total of 118 individuals and entities linked to the Russian financial sector.
