“Today marks the conclusion of a constitutional coup that has been unfolding for several weeks, if not months. The journey from Europe to Russia has come to an end. All doubts that people may have had—that perhaps this is not the case, that there might be another explanation—have been dispelled today. This illegitimate government has declared war on its own people, its past, and its future. On this path, there is no state sovereignty for Georgia, nor its independence, nor its future, other than in Russia,” the president's words are reported by the Telegram channel.
Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that the "Georgian Dream" party will refrain from opening negotiations with the European Union until the end of 2028.
