Parliamentary parties have been consulting with farmers, industrialists, trade unions, and environmental groups for several months and have decided that starting in 2030, livestock owners will pay a tax of $43 per ton of methane, reports Kazpravda.kz citing Rg.ru
By 2035, the contribution will increase to over $100.
Currently, around 60 percent of Denmark's territory is cultivated, making it the country with the highest proportion of arable land, as noted by the parliament. To restore the ecosystem of Danish fjords and coastal areas, authorities are also advocating for a reduction in nitrogen pollution. Starting in 2027, they plan to cut emissions by 13,780 tons per year.
Additionally, the country will plant 250,000 hectares of new forests, and 140,000 hectares of peatlands currently in use will be restored to their natural state.
