Бектенов предложил представителю ЕС упростить процесс получения шенгенских виз для бизнесменов из Казахстана.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, together with the Acting Chargé d'Affaires of the European Union Delegation, Johannes Baur, held the 16th meeting of the "Kazakhstan-European Union" dialogue platform, which involved heads of diplomatic missions from EU member states as well as leaders of several prominent European industrial companies.

It is noted that the European Union is a significant partner for Kazakhstan on the international stage. From 2005 to 2024, the total gross inflow of direct investments from EU countries into Kazakhstan exceeded $200 billion, accounting for 47.8% of the total volume of foreign direct investment in the country.

"Currently, the European Union is the largest trading and investment partner of Kazakhstan. It accounts for more than a third of the country’s foreign trade and half of the attracted investments. The mutual trade turnover between our countries increased by 17% last year, nearly reaching $50 billion. We are interested in further expanding and diversifying the range of goods supplied to Europe," noted Olzhas Bektenov.

It is highlighted that the government is implementing digital solutions in public administration to reduce bureaucracy and optimize regulatory procedures. The National Digital Investment Platform has been launched, along with the portals minerals.gov.kz and e-qazyna.kz, which ensure transparency in the licensing processes. The legislative framework is being improved for the priority development of raw material processing and the production of finished goods with high added value.

The measures being taken aim to eliminate barriers for business and liberalize the economy.

"Together with Kazakhstan, we are developing the next Roadmap for Strategic Partnership for 2025-2026, with particular attention to specific actions such as supporting digitalization and geodata management," stated Johannes Baur.

At the same time, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov raised issues with the heads of diplomatic missions that directly affect the business activity of domestic enterprises, particularly addressing visa procedures.

"During my recent meeting with domestic entrepreneurs, the issue of difficulties in obtaining Schengen visas was raised, especially in countries like Lithuania, Germany, and Poland. Kazakh freight carriers are facing a limited number of slots at visa centers, long waiting times—up to two months—and the issuance of short-term visas—up to three months—which significantly complicates their operations."

"Additional obstacles are created by the requirement for original copies of permits for international transport (i.e., the so-called 'permits'). These restrictions create further barriers for Kazakh companies and impact the development of bilateral economic relations with the EU," emphasized Olzhas Bektenov, expressing hope for a constructive dialogue to simplify procedures for Kazakh businessmen and freight carriers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further develop mutually beneficial partnerships, strengthen economic ties, and collaborate on new promising initiatives.
