Trump also noted that the United States and Ukraine are "very close to reaching a final agreement" regarding rare earth metals "and various other matters."
“Zelensky may come this week or next week to sign the agreement, and that would be great. I would be happy to meet with him, in the Oval Office,” Trump said.
Additionally, the American president stated that:
- Putin does not oppose the deployment of European peacekeeping troops on Ukrainian territory as part of a future agreement.
- The U.S. is interested in long-term economic projects with Russia, which he believes could contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
- May 9 is too early for a trip to Moscow, but "I want to come at the right time."
The President of France, for his part, stated that Ukraine must be involved in negotiations to end the war. He confirmed that Paris and London have developed a plan for security guarantees for Kyiv.
Macron emphasized that:
- The issue of deploying European troops in Ukraine is under consideration, but their role will strictly be to ensure security.
- The seizure of frozen Russian assets is impossible, as it violates international law.
- Ukraine must participate in peace negotiations, and European countries are ready to provide it with security guarantees.
