In a comprehensive interview with the newspaper "Ana tili," the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, commented on rumors regarding a potential appointment as the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The President was asked whether the rumors circulating on social media about his plans to lead the UN in 2026, which would coincide with early presidential elections in our country, hold any truth.
"I had the opportunity to lead the UN Office in Geneva for almost three years as the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN and the Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament. I gained valuable experience and understanding of the mechanisms of international processes. I believe that this is more than enough. I have significant plans for the development of the country for many years ahead, which I intend to implement," - the president responded.
Additionally, Tokayev expressed his views on the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump. "I can confidently say that he has a positive attitude towards Kazakhstan as an important strategic partner of the USA," - stated the president.
Regarding Kazakhstan-Russia relations, Tokayev noted that Putin has a good understanding of Kazakhstan's specifics.
