According to the official Telegram channel of Akorda, a phone conversation took place between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The heads of state discussed the expansion of Kazakh-Qatari cooperation in trade, economy, and investment sectors, as well as the progress of the Agreement on Establishing Long-Term Strategic Partnership, signed earlier this year.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed a mutual opinion that the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar is genuinely strategic and mutually beneficial.
The President of Kazakhstan confirmed his participation in the Doha Forum 2024 at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar.
The interlocutors also agreed to continue close contacts between the two countries.
It is worth noting that in July, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani visited Astana for the SCO summit. Upon his arrival, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev personally met with the Emir of Qatar.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations in trade, economy, cultural-humanitarian, transport-logistics, agricultural, and energy sectors, as well as in education, healthcare, and telecommunications. Special attention was paid to current issues on the regional and international agenda.
Additionally, according to TASS, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was born on June 3, 1980, in Doha (the capital of Qatar). He belongs to the ruling Al Thani dynasty, which has governed Qatar since the 19th century, and is the fourth son of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who ruled the country from 1995 to 2013.
On June 25, 2013, when his father abdicated the throne, 33-year-old Sheikh Tamim was declared the Emir of Qatar (as well as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces). He became the youngest emir since the country gained independence in 1971 and the youngest reigning monarch in the world at that time.
