Tokaev addressed the employees of print media.

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated employees of print media on National Press Day, as reported by NUR.KZ citing Akorda.
Токаев сделал заявление для сотрудников печатных средств массовой информации.

As the president noted, this holiday is a symbol of deep respect for the employees of print media, whose selfless work contributes to the country's progress and the development of statehood.

"The domestic press has always been the voice of the people and a bastion of our spirituality. We take pride in its rich history and enlightening traditions. Newspapers and magazines play a special role in strengthening national consciousness. It is largely on the pages of print media that representatives of the intelligentsia express their views on issues that concern society.

Throughout different periods, print publications in our country have unwaveringly served the interests of the nation. Today, our professional journalists continue this glorious path with dignity, disseminating reliable information and actively participating in the affirmation of national values.

I am confident that our periodicals will continue to make significant contributions to the realization of constructive initiatives, the formation of a new quality of the nation, and the strengthening of the unity of the people.

I wish everyone prosperity and creative inspiration!" - stated Tokayev in his congratulatory message.

It is worth noting that the National Press Day in Kazakhstan was celebrated for the first time only last year.

The proposal to include Press Day in the list of public holidays was made in 2023. The authors of the proposal clarified that the date of the first issue of the national publication has become a tradition in countries such as Russia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

"It is important to make the date of the first issue of the newspaper 'Қазақ', which is at the origins of mass media, a historically significant date," - was specified in the draft resolution.

According to MIA "Kazinform," at the end of June 2023, Darkhan Kydyrali, who at that time held the position of Minister of Information and Public Development, announced the adoption of the holiday.

"February 2 is the National Press Day. It is known that the first issue of the newspaper was published 110 years ago, on February 2. The newspaper was produced by such intellectuals of the nation as Akhmet Baitursynuly, Alihan Bokeikhanov, and Mirzhakyp Dulatuly," - noted the former minister.
