The tanker named after Nursultan Nazarbayev has been added to the U.S. sanctions list.

On January 10, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced a new set of sanctions against Russia, labeling it as one of the most stringent packages to date, according to Orda.kz.
Танкер Нурсултана Назарбаева попал в санкционный список США.

The sanctions list includes "Gazprom Neft" and "Surgeutneftegaz," along with their subsidiaries, which encompass oil refineries and extraction enterprises. Among these are the Moscow and Omsk refineries, "Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz," "Gazpromneft-Orenburg," and others. The restrictions also affect the foreign entities of "Gazprom Neft" located in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia (NIS), and the Luxembourg-registered Gazprom Neft International.

The sanctions have targeted an Aframax-class oil tanker named after Nursultan Nazarbayev, owned by the company "Rosnefteflot." The vessel is designed for transporting crude oil and liquid cargoes, with a length of 250 meters and a carrying capacity of 114,000 tons.

This tanker was laid down at the Russian shipbuilding complex "Zvezda" on July 6, 2020, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the first president of Kazakhstan. The decision to name it after Nazarbayev was made by the Russian government as a recognition of his contribution to the development of relations between Kazakhstan and Russia.
