Svetlanskaya in the embrace of a dragon: the Chinese New Year was celebrated in Vladivostok.

During the weekend, Vladivostok witnessed a captivating spectacle – a majestic Chinese dragon, crafted by the hands of artists and guests of the City Museum (a branch of the V.K. Arsenyev Museum-Preserve of History of the Far East – Ed. note), "flew" down the main street, Svetlanskaya. This vibrant event marked the culmination of a week dedicated to the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival. A correspondent from "Komsomolskaya Pravda – Far East" attended the ceremonial procession.

Throughout the past week, various activities took place in the capital of the Far East: tea ceremonies, workshops on the games of go and mahjong, and more. Meanwhile, artists Alina Karelina and Mikhail Chuvakin, along with others, worked on creating a large, colorful dragon. Inspired by the traditions of Chinese culture, they transformed ordinary materials into a symbol of strength, wisdom, and good fortune.

The Dragon Takes Center Stage

On February 1, the day of the grand procession, hundreds of eyes eagerly followed the movement of the mythical creature. The route began at the City Museum building and stretched along Svetlanskaya Street. Bright, long, and winding, the dragon gracefully glided through the Central Square of Revolution Fighters, circling the New Year tree, and passed through the underground passage to the opposite side. More than a hundred people accompanied it from start to finish, while others joined the festive procession along the way.

The highlight of the event was a tea ceremony at the establishment "Dragon's Well." There, in a cozy atmosphere, procession participants enjoyed the aromas and flavors of traditional Chinese tea, discussing what they had seen and sharing their impressions.

The Comic at the Tail of the Dragon

The tail of the dragon was carried by the well-known local comic Charlie from Congo. It’s likely that a video featuring him in the procession will soon appear on his social media.
