Fear boosts the immune system, according to a study.

Emotions trigger specific systems within the body.
Страх может укреплять иммунную систему, согласно новому исследованию.

During an experiment conducted using the entertainment attraction "Haunted House," researchers investigated the impact of fear on the human body and discovered that it may reduce the risk of infectious inflammation.

“The research team observed 113 adult participants, with an average age of 29.7 years. Among them were 69 women and 44 men. For nearly an hour, while the attraction lasted, the heart rates of all participants were monitored, and blood samples were taken — before visiting the 'Haunted House,' immediately after, and three days later,” the source clarifies.

The results indicated that fear activates certain systems in the body, triggering the "fight or flight" response, which is a fundamental survival mechanism. These acute stress moments can mobilize cells and prepare the immune system for potential injury or infection. The study confirmed that fear not only provides thrills but also plays a role in modulating immune responses.

“The findings align with previous animal studies that also suggest acute stress can have positive effects on health. Such experiments could open new avenues in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases,” the publication notes.

Voluntary experiences of fear, such as those found in entertainment venues, may not only serve as a way to get an adrenaline rush but also help strengthen the immune system. However, researchers emphasize the need for further studies to gain a deeper understanding of how fear affects the human body.
