It has been revealed why the Kazakh fighter was stripped of their top contender status in the UFC.

The Kazakh fighter Asu Alma baev (21-2) has lost his fight against Australian Steve Erceg (12-3). This bout was scheduled for March 2 as part of the UFC event in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), as reported by Vesti.kz .

Earlier, there were reports that Alma baev had pulled out of the fight. However, the Kazakh himself denied these claims, and Asu's team issued a statement .

According to a source , Erceg is being considered to face former two-time UFC champion and current number two in the flyweight division, Mexican Brandon Moreno (22-8-2), with their matchup included in UFC's plans for the card on March 29 in Mexico City. Initially, the Australian was supposed to fight Alma baev, but as noted, their bout has been canceled.

Alma baev is ranked eighth in the UFC flyweight division.

The last time Asu fought was on October 20 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), where he won a unanimous decision after three rounds against Brazilian Mateus Nicolau (19-6-1).

The Kazakh has competed in four fights in the world's top league, winning three by decision and one by submission.
