Journalists noted that yesterday, deputy Ermurad Bapi announced that two Kazakhstani hydroelectric power stations had been sold to Arabs. They inquired about the accuracy of this information.
"The stations are under the management of the company 'Samruk-Energo', they are operational, and there is no such information. We read about it yesterday, but we cannot confirm that this information is accurate. We deny it. Yes. They are owned by 'Samruk-Energo', and they are functioning," - stated Vice Minister of Energy Sungat Yesimkhanov.
Last summer, it was reported that the energy ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan signed an agreement regarding the construction and operation of the Kambaratinskaya HPP.
Later, it became known that Iran might build several hydraulic structures in Kazakhstan and provide technologies for transporting irrigation water.
Additionally, in the spring of 2023, it was revealed that the two largest HPPs in Kazakhstan - LLP "Shulbinskaya HPP" and LLP "Ust-Kamenogorsk HPP" - had completely come under the control of "Samruk-Kazyna".
However, a year earlier, in 2022, the Ministry of Energy stated that the Ust-Kamenogorsk and Shulbinskaya HPPs were not subject to privatization, as they are strategic facilities, and the stations would not be sold.
