Historically, the Zhanibek and Bokeyordinsky districts have been supplied by a single energy system of the Russian Federation. Currently, the price for a kilowatt of imported energy is 40 tenge.
– Last year, we set the goal to find an investor and discuss the terms for constructing the station, – commented Miros Mulkai, head of the regional energy and housing utilities department. – Today, there is a company ready to build a hybrid station. During the day, energy will be generated through solar panels, and at night, it will be produced by processing gas. Financing will be entirely through private investments. The local executive body guarantees the purchase of the entire volume of electricity. Currently, the two districts consume about 5 MW. Therefore, the capacity of the future station must at least meet this demand.
The investor is prepared to sell electricity at 32 tenge per kW. In the future, the price will be adjusted according to annual inflation, while the tariff will be approved by the authorized body in the field of natural monopolies.
Green Spark Limited is a young company providing services in the oil and gas sector. It has been operating in Kazakhstan since 2017.
The technical conditions for the construction of the power plant are still under discussion. As noted by Miros Mulkai, the maximum timeframe for project implementation is two years, with eight months allocated for the manufacturing of the necessary equipment. During this time, the district akimats must fully resolve the issue of bringing in the necessary communications.
The location for the station has already been determined – a 20 ha plot has been allocated near the village of Onege in the Zhanibek district. The site is convenient for both gas supply and electricity transportation.
