Former UFC champion and now commentator and analyst Michael Bisping has warned his fellow countryman Michael "Venom" Page (23-3) following the latter's announcement about moving up to welterweight. According to him, the Brit should be wary of the Kazakh fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov (19-0) and explained his stance, as reported by Vesti.kz .
Bisping believes that the 37-year-old athlete should remain in the middleweight division, where he faced Russian fighter Sharabutdin Magomedov (15-1), sensationally winning by unanimous decision.
"Venom" wants the UFC welterweight title. He thinks he has unfinished business, but I doubt that because there are many wrestlers in that category. Of course, there are Belal Muhammad (24-3), Shavkat Rakhmonov (19-0), who will undoubtedly try to grapple with Page if they face him. There’s also Kamaru Usman (20-4) and many others," Bisping stated on his Youtube channel.
It’s worth noting that Page debuted in the UFC only in March 2024. In the world's top promotion, he managed to compete in three fights. He lost two of them, winning only the last bout against Dagestani Magomedov. Nevertheless, the Brit has already expressed his intentions to win a title in the welterweight category.
In the latest UFC welterweight rankings, Rakhmonov is in second place, while Page is in 15th. The champion is American Belal Muhammad.
