Villagers were promised jobs but were left with debts instead.

In the Akmolinskaya region, five members of an organized crime group have been arrested for fraudulently obtaining loans in the names of local residents. According to the police, the majority of the victims were residents of rural areas, as reported by Orda.kz.

On November 26, police in Kokshetau and Almaty detained and placed five suspects in a temporary detention facility. Among those arrested are four residents of Akmolinsk region and one resident of Almaty.

 

During the searches, they discovered and seized: cash, traumatic and cold weapons, mobile phones, and banking agreements.

“To date, seven individuals have been recognized as victims. The exact number of victims is still being determined,” the police reported.

A pre-trial investigation is underway regarding the fraud committed by an organized criminal group. Authorities are determining the number of affected citizens and the total amount of damages.
