Starting February 1, the border crossing point with Uzbekistan will be temporarily closed.

Starting February 1, the Tazhen border crossing with Uzbekistan will be closed for reconstruction, as reported by Kazpravda.kz, citing the State Revenue Committee.
С 1 февраля временно приостановит работу пункт пропуска на границе с Узбекистаном.

“During the reconstruction of the post, from February 1 for a period of 3 months, the crossing for individuals, as well as the passage of light vehicles, buses, and freight transport up to 3.5 tons through the checkpoints ‘Tazhen’ (RK) – ‘Daut Ata’ (RU) will be temporarily suspended,” the statement reads.

In this regard, the flow of individuals, light vehicles, buses, and freight transport up to 3.5 tons will be redirected through the following checkpoints located on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border:

  • checkpoints ‘B. Konyssbaeva’ (RK) - ‘Yallama’ (RU) (individuals, light vehicles, buses, and freight vehicles with a carrying capacity of up to 3.5 tons);
  • checkpoints ‘Kaplanbek’ (RK) - ‘Zangiota’ (RU) (individuals, light vehicles, buses);
  • checkpoints ‘Syrdarya’ (RK) – ‘Malik’ (RU), ‘Tselinny’ (RK) – ‘Ok Oltyn’ (RU) (light vehicles, individuals);
  • railway checkpoints ‘Beyneu’ (RK) – ‘Karakalpakia’ (RU) (movement of individuals by rail transport).

As reported by the KGD, a comprehensive modernization of 9 vehicle checkpoints on the border with China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan is ongoing at customs posts located on the outer border of the EAEU.

“After the modernization is completed, the infrastructure of the checkpoints will improve, and all conditions for a comfortable border crossing will be created,” the statement says.
