The head of the customs laboratory has been convicted for bribery.
The Almalinsky District Court of Almaty has sentenced the head of the city’s central customs laboratory, Satybaldiev, and senior specialist Alibekov to seven years in prison, according to Orda.kz, citing the anti-corruption service.

Additionally, according to Antikor, the court has fined customs brokers for bribery.
The Central Customs Laboratory is an institution under the Committee of State Revenues of the Ministry of Finance. The laboratory is responsible for inspecting goods crossing the customs border to determine their composition, quality, and compliance with legislation. Its primary objective is to combat smuggling and protect the domestic market from unsafe and low-quality products.
