One of the most significant events this year in the world of documentary cinema will take place at the National Center "Russia". The III International Festival "RT.Doc: The Time of Our Heroes," dedicated to the defenders of our Motherland, will be held from February 21 to 23.
The opening ceremony will take place on February 21 at 18:00. Guests will witness the loud premiere of military documentarians RT Olga Kiry and Artem Somov's "Island of Faith." "The film tells the story of people for whom the Holy Assumption Nikolo-Vasilievsky Monastery near Ugledar, founded by the Donetsk elder Zosima, became a place of salvation for a long three years," shares author Olga Kiry. The concert part of the evening will feature performances by beloved frontline musicians and poets. The event is organized in collaboration with the National Center "Russia."
Another premiere from RT is the film by military documentarians Ruslan Gusаров and Mikhail Burov titled "At the Tip of the Spear." "The goal of the film is to reflect together with the heroes of the film on the meanings and symbols of what is happening, on feelings and experiences, on good and evil, life and death in the context of war," shares war correspondent Ruslan Gusаров.
Festival guests will first see the film by Yulia Martovalieva and Mikhail Burov titled "Selidovo. A Crime Without a Statute of Limitations." "The city housed one of the military bases of the national battalion 'Azov.' All locals who refused to evacuate towards Ukraine were automatically classified as enemies and exterminated by the 'Azov' fighters," say the authors.
"The Time of Our Heroes is not just the name of the festival. Each documentary film, each story, is a chronicle of the courage and heroism of those who bring our Victory closer," — Ekaterina Yakovleva, General Producer of the festival "RT.Doc: The Time of Our Heroes."
"Roscosmos Media" will present the premiere "With Fire in the Heart," dedicated to the volunteer military personnel of the State Corporation "Roscosmos." Despite having a deferment from military service, a prestigious job, and family, they could not remain indifferent. "Komsomolskaya Pravda" will showcase for the first time a film with a telling title "Defense of the Kursk Region: Stories of Heroism."
The festival program includes over 20 documentary works by well-known authors and directors, including Sergey Debizhev and Maxim Fadeev. There will also be meetings with war correspondents, with open discussions led by Alexander Sladkov, Olga Kiry, Ruslan Gusаров, and Artem Somov.
For the first time, an expanded international program will be featured at the festival. Documentarians from various countries, including Bulgaria, Italy, Cameroon, Slovakia, Serbia, and others, will come to the National Center.
About the Festival:
The International Festival "RT.Doc: The Time of Our Heroes" brings together documentary filmmakers, war correspondents, artists, poets, musicians, and opinion leaders on its platforms. The festival program is tied together by a common idea: "This is the time of heroes. This is our time." At the center of each film is a poignant story where behind every frame lies a human fate. This cinema is about the defenders of Donbas, about heroes at the front and in the rear, about volunteers, doctors, war correspondents, artists, and musicians. Our cinema halls are a territory of truth.
The festival program includes over 70 films. These are works by RT war correspondents, First Channel, VGTRK, the "Zvezda" TV channel, the SPAS TV channel, and independent authors, including international filmmakers. Films by documentarians from Italy, France, and the USA are also featured at the festival.
