Kazakhstan is experiencing an increase in the production of construction materials.

A total of 180 billion tenge has been invested in the production of construction materials.

“The production volume of construction materials in 2024 amounted to 1 billion 336 million tenge, which is an increase of 6.9% compared to 2023, when it was 1 billion 249 million tenge. The growth was achieved due to an increase in the production of processed stone for monuments by 24.8%, mineral wool and slag wool by 22.4%, non-refractory ceramic bricks by 7.7%, and other materials,” the Ministry of Industry clarified.

Overall, the growth in production in the sector was driven by an 18.5% increase in the volume of construction work. Last year, 3.5 billion tenge was invested in residential construction, which is 14.7% more than in 2023.

The highest production volumes in monetary terms were recorded in Astana (13.5% of the total production volume), Karaganda region (9.3%), and Almaty region (9.1%).

Additionally, according to the ministry's information, the export volume of construction materials reached 276.3 million dollars, showing an 11.8% increase in monetary terms compared to 2023.

“The main export items included goods such as refractory cements, Portland cement, reinforcing bars, ceramic insulation, ceramic tiles, and more. The volume of imported construction materials amounted to 1.3 million dollars, which is 8.8% more than in 2023. The main import items included other cement products, slag wool and mineral silicate wool, ceramic tiles, Portland cement, and others,” the ministry specified.

It is noted that the volume of investments in the fixed capital of the industry amounted to 180 billion tenge. According to the Ministry of Industry, in 2024, a factory for the production of thermal insulation materials was commissioned in the Almaty region, a cement production plant in the Zhambyl region, a ceramic tile manufacturing plant in Shymkent, and other projects.
