The National Guard of Russia awarded retired Colonel Vladimir Yakovlevich Slepov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, who was born on February 23, 1925. At that time, his native village of Yelany was part of the Saratov district (abolished by the Bolsheviks in 1928).
The Order of Alexander Nevsky was presented to the hero by Alexey Vorobyov, Deputy Director of the Federal National Guard Service, Army General.
“The award was given in accordance with the Decree of the President of Russia for significant personal contributions to strengthening the country's defense capabilities and for many years of conscientious service,” the National Guard commented.
The agency noted that Vladimir Slepov, an experienced educator and professor at the military academy, participated in the liberation of Hungary, Austria, and Czechoslovakia from the fascist yoke during the war.

His life is a story of courage and selflessness, reflected in his military awards: the Orders of Friendship, the Red Star, and many others that he received for his achievements.
Even in retirement, he continues to inspire a new generation of officers, teaching them at the Military Academy of the National Guard, where one of the classrooms is now named after him.
“Your courage and heroism during the Great Patriotic War left a deep mark in the hearts of each of us,” General Vorobyov emphasized, noting that he and his colleagues at the National Guard admire the feats of Slepov, who remains a true example of patriotism.
