Emergency state: An oil storage facility in a Russian region near Kazakhstan has been ablaze for 24 hours following a strike by Ukrainian armed forces.
In Engels, home to an oil storage facility, there is a base for strategic bombers that are utilized for strikes on Ukraine, reports Orda.kz.
The oil depot is located in the city of Engels in the Saratov region, which borders Kazakhstan. However, there are about 200 kilometers from Engels to the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Engels has repeatedly been targeted for strikes. This city is home to a base of strategic bombers that participate in attacks on Ukraine. The Russian publication Astra reports that the oil depot "Kristall" supplied fuel to military aircraft.
On January 8, Russia also launched an attack on Ukraine.
According to The Insider, the target of the strike was the "Motor Sich" plant, which produces aircraft engines.
