A new rector has been appointed at one of the universities in Pavlodar.

At the Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after Alkey Margulan, a new rector has been appointed. Erjan Amirbekuly, who previously led another higher education institution, has taken over the position, as reported by NUR.KZ citing the university.

According to the official website of the Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after Alkey Margulan, the Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Eshekulov, introduced the university staff to the new rector. The new rector is Yerzhan Amirbekuly, a specialist with experience in academic and scientific activities.

Speaking to the staff, the Vice Minister emphasized the high professionalism and competence of the new leader and expressed confidence that under his guidance, the university will continue its development, strengthen its position in the educational sphere, and make a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists.

On behalf of the university staff, the chairman of the "Akıldastar Alqasy," Bakhtiyar Naimanov, the head of the career guidance department, Gulnar Musanova, and the dean of the School of Arts and Sports, Valentina Lebedeva, delivered welcoming remarks. They highlighted the importance of continuity and the preservation of the best traditions of the university.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude to the former rector, Zhanbol Zhylbaev, for his contributions to the development of the Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after Alkey Margulan, effective leadership, and achievements in the field of education.

Yerzhan Amirbekuly graduated with honors from Taraz State University named after M.Kh. Dulati in 1998 and began his career as a lecturer at that university. In 2000, he entered the postgraduate program at the Kazakh Academy of Public Administration.

In 2004, after defending his candidate dissertation, he was hired as a lecturer at the Kazakh Economic University named after T. Ryskulov. Since then, he has worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor, and head of the "Economics" department.

From 2006 to 2009, he studied in the doctoral program, and in 2010, he defended his doctoral dissertation. In 2018, he received the title of professor.

From 2014 to 2015, he served as the head of the department at the National Testing Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2015 to 2018, he held positions as the director of the International Business School, vice-rector for academic affairs and science at the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance, and International Trade.

From 2018 to 2020, he worked as the rector of Taraz State Pedagogical University, and from 2020 to 2021, he held the position of vice-rector and rector of Taraz Regional University.

From 2021 to 2024, Yerzhan Amirbekuly served as the rector of Arkalyk Pedagogical Institute named after Y. Altynsarin.

Previously, the Anti-Corruption Agency revealed instances of unjustified use of funds at the Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after Alkey Margulan. The university planned to purchase one book as educational literature for students at a cost of 31.5 million tenge.

Additionally, in Pavlodar, the university attempted to recover a debt from an expelled student who studied in the specialty "Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education" through the court. The case ended with a mediation agreement.
