Expansion remains a top priority for the European Union.
This statement was made by Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, during her visit to Montenegro as part of her Balkan tour. She has visited all six countries in the Western Balkans that aspire to join the European Union, according to Orda.kz, referencing Euronews.

Several Western Balkan countries could join the EU by 2030 if they overcome numerous challenges, one of which is the rule of law.
During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the candidate country needs to align with the EU's foreign policy. Therefore, Montenegro, Albania, and North Macedonia, which have already joined NATO, appear to be more reliable partners.
