This year, as in previous instances, the road is being repaired without adequate preparation: cold asphalt will be laid on the previously flooded and now dried surface after the rains.
Local residents believe that after winter and spring floods, it will be washed out again.
“This creates a whole swamp afterwards; people can't drive or walk. The water supply service comes and pumps out 3-4 trucks of water, taking it somewhere. So much water just sits here for weeks. There isn’t even a sidewalk, and it’s called Al-Farabi Avenue,” complains resident Anatoly Chernushka.
According to locals, the road is used by heavy vehicles, which are causing the damage.
Currently, the section between houses 141/1-6 has been covered with gravel, while other parts of the road—near the train station and by house No. 141/13—have been asphalted.
Due to the ongoing issue that remains unresolved for years, residents are forced to seek assistance from the media.
In response to an inquiry from “NG,” Altynbek Kairatuly, the deputy head of the Housing and Utilities, Transport, and Emergency Situations department of the Kostanay akimat, stated that “the work on asphalting the section will be included in the work plan for 2025 and will be carried out upon the allocation of budget funds.”
