The President has tasked the government with proposing plans for the construction of a second nuclear power plant.

"I expect proposals from the government and parliament regarding the location for the construction of the second nuclear power plant. I reiterate: our country needs nuclear energy; without it, the progressive development of Kazakhstan will be in jeopardy," - stated the president.

He added that energy is the driving force behind the entire economy.

"Certainly, only by providing energy to all regions can we lead them to prosperity and improve the quality of life for the population," - he concluded.

Earlier, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to expedite the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan and to determine the site for the second nuclear power plant.

Additionally, in an interview with the newspaper "Ana tіlі," Tokayev expressed his views on the construction of nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan.
